The Department of the US Navy has awarded Consensus Networks a $1.5M contract for HealthNet, a blockchain-enabled logistics tool targeted at medical supply chains. HealthNet will leverage IoTeX technology, including Pebble Tracker and Decentralized Identity (DID), to secure data across medical supply chains and ensure the US Navy is utilizing the most trusted information to manage their medical inventory at home and abroad.
Consensus Networks began their journey in the IoTeX Network as one of our original Delegates in April 2019. We admire their passion for Blockchain & IoT and are proud to support them as they take their next big step from concept-to-product! In the rest of this blog, we provide an overview of HealthNet and their roadmap for 2021 and beyond.
IoTalks Interview with Consensus Networks
IoTeX hosted an exclusive interview with Nathan Miller, CEO of Consensus Networks and former US Navy Officer. During this must-watch interview, we covered HealthNet’s relationship with the US Navy, key issues at the intersection of healthcare and supply chain, why they chose to build with the IoTeX platform and Pebble Tracker, and much more!
“We choose to build using public blockchain networks like IoTeX because of their existing and robust consensus mechanisms and network infrastructure.” — Nathan Miller, CEO of Consensus Networks
HealthNet Overview & Roadmap
HealthNet is designed for medical operators utilizing an integrated data environment and intuitive front-end capable of tracking medical supplies from manufacturer or supplier to patient, saving time and reducing waste. HealthNet will utilize Pebble Tracker to gather verifiable data from supply chain environments, secure this real world data using blockchain, and utilize this trusted data to automate supply chain processes, enable multi-stakeholder collaboration, and minimize workflow disruptions.
Key features include:
- Real-time inventory tracking
- Expiration and consumable monitoring
- Modular API integrations
- Cold-chain/product quality verification
- EHR/ERP Integration
- Real-time demand prediction and supply planning
- Cross-hospital load balancing of supplies
Essential networks, like healthcare, undergo cyber attacks everyday. Blockchain technology and distributed networks are capable of being resilient in the face of such attacks, ensuring vital processes and information flow is not disrupted. Consensus Network’s contract with the US Navy runs into 2022 and will kick off with a pilot in 2021 focused on accurate demand forecasting and automated flow of supplies for true just-in time delivery of essential products such as blood and plasma.
“Decentralized networks have the potential to be a powerful tool for information assurance and availability to distributed US Navy forces.” — Nathan Miller, CEO of Consensus Networks
