Cross-Chain Fever: W3bstream Integrates Polygon
The launch of W3bstream Devnet has torn down the wall dividing Web3 and the physical world. But to create a maximally open design space for Web3 applications with r3al world impact, W3bstream must tap into the industry’s deepest developer pools. To that end, we are thrilled to announce that W3bstream Studio is now integrated with Polygon.
Polygon has a thriving ecosystem, boasting the fifth most daily active wallets and enjoying nearly 10x growth in 2022, a bear market year. It also has one of the most active developer ecosystems in Web3, home to tens of thousands of applications.
The W3bstream integration allows Polygon devs to connect their dApps to real world device data and generate corresponding on-chain events, augmenting DeFi and gaming and unlocking new use cases from ridesharing to energy collectives.
What “Polygon Integration” Means
W3bstream Studio is Devnet’s front end hub where devs can log in with Metamask and immediately start building r3al world dApps. The tooling includes metrics dashboards, device onboarding and management, blockchain event logic, data management, and support.
The Polygon integration means that all this tooling now directly connects to the Polygon chain and its bountiful ecosystem of innovative applications and talent. The flow is similar to deploying a dApp on IoTeX mainnet, except on-chain proofs are sent to Polygon.
Games can now include real world data, from pokemon-go style in-person play to geocached on-chain collectables. DeFi applications can sell futures on real-world data from weather to traffic patterns. The integration removes all physical constraints on developers, breaking them out of their digital box.
Why Chain Agnosticism
IoTeX’s goal has always been to promote the development and adoption of real world Web3 applications. The existing Web3 talent pool is as deep as it is wide, spread across diverse protocols that share values even as they compete for users. Unifying these developer pools under the umbrella of the r3al world design space allows them to create more powerful applications that cater to the entire connected world.
W3bstream Studio embodies IoTeX’s ethos of any device, any chain, with more chains added all the time. Live integrations include IoTeX, Ethereum, BNB Chain, and now, Polygon.
Existing Polygon Projects
Multiple leading r3al world projects are already using W3bstream studio to secure data proofs on Polygon. These projects have all established serious partnerships with IoTeX to solidify their trustless infrastructure and accelerate their growth.
GEODNET is a decentralized network of crypto-incentivized "Space Weather" stations that produce dense geospatial data in real-time. They use W3bstream to register and monitor network activities and send geo-spatial location proofs to Polygon to eliminate spoofing.
XNET is a full-featured mobile network that offers carrier-grade access to cellular services such as voice calling and SMS messaging, running on a fleet of community-operated nodes. XNET plans to use W3bstream to register and monitor the activities of their footprint of CBRS-based radios and provide proofs to be sent to Polygon including location and usage.
DIMO is the world’s first connected vehicle network using W3bstream to enable developers to compute real-time insights over granular streaming data. Data proofs are sent to, you guessed it, Polygon.
Looking Ahead to Wider Adoption
By serving as the universal bridge between Web3 and the physical world, W3bstream introduces an entirely new design space that connects Web3 with billions of additional people. And IoTeX is demonstrating the broad viability of DePIN through numerous multi-chain partners integrating W3bstream to bring real world data to large user bases. Through these partnerships, we are demonstrating the widespread power of this technology to activate the early majority and accelerate the flywheel of DePIN adoption.
If you are interested in DePIN you can learn more about the latest developments in the sector and compare projects by visiting DePINscan. DePINscan powered by W3bstream and IoTeX is designed to empower intelligent investors in the DePIN sector.
About Polygon Labs:
Polygon Labs develops Ethereum scaling solutions for Polygon protocols. Polygon Labs engages with other ecosystem developers to help make available scalable, affordable, secure and sustainable blockchain infrastructure for Web3. Polygon Labs has initially developed a growing suite of protocols for developers to gain easy access to major scaling solutions, including layer 2s (zero-knowledge rollups), sidechains, app-specific chains and data availability protocols. Scaling solutions that Polygon Labs initially developed have seen widespread adoption with tens of thousands of decentralized apps, unique addresses exceeding 261 million, over 1.4 million smart contracts created and 2.7 billion total transactions processed since inception. The existing Polygon network is home for some of the biggest Web3 projects, such as Aave, Uniswap, QiDao and OpenSea, and well-known enterprises, including Robinhood, Stripe and Adobe. Polygon Labs is carbon neutral with the goal of leading Web3 in becoming carbon negative.
